What can we learn about how Christians worship and their beliefs?
Class Wear visited St Mary’s Church in Gainford to learn a bit more about how Christians worship and their beliefs.
We saw the font and discussed how it is used for christenings. This is to welcome children (and sometimes adults) into Christianity and introducing them to God.
We looked carefully at the stained glass windows and talked about how they helped people learn about Jesus and God when many people could not read.
We found lots of Christian symbols in the windows and around the church.
We could not celebrate Christingle with our family and friends in church so we had to do it in class instead.
We discussed the meaning of Christingle and thought about those who are less fortunate than us.
Class Wear has a special visitor.
This week a special package was devivered to Class Wear. Inside was Alfie, an elf sent by Father Christmas to ‘look after’ Class Wear.
The children were very excited to meet him!
Unfortunately, Alfie appears to be fond of playing tricks on us.
Welcome to Wear Class
Wear Class is Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4. The teacher is Mr Martin.
We have read about Theseus and the Minotaur and made some drawings of the Minotaur.
We have looked at Greek pottery and had a go at making some of our own pots. Some of us used the coil method and others used the pinch method.
Greek Theatre Masks
We learned about the Greek theatre and how they used masks to show the audience the different characters.
We had a go at Greek dancing. it was hard but good fun.
Greek food tasting!

Olives, feta cheese, goat’s cheese, figs, flat breads, olive oil, hummus and anchovies.
