Welcome to our School Council
We have a keen and active school council! Two children from each year group (Y1-Y6) represent the children in the school.
They meet regularly –every two or three weeks with Mrs Gallagher (school council leader) and discuss events and issues that they and other children are interested in. Sometimes they bring problems to light, or things that they are concerned about. At other times they help to make decisions about new furniture, books for the library, equipment for playtimes or even school dinners!

With our community we have been involved in planning next year’s Gainford Fun Day, sharing ideas for fancy dress, fun and sports on the day. Also, we are taking part in The Bowes Museum’s Snowman Trail, designing, and creating a snowman together that represents our school.
In school we have been sticking pink post it’s on what we like at school- teachers, friends, equipment, books and sticking green post it’s on things we would like to improve – more tyres for the playground, more footballs, a school pet, different food in extra time club, leavers hoodies. Year 6 school councillors have been researching getting leavers hoodies, who would like them, where can we get them and how much will they cost etc. We are hoping to continue our enterprise creating a Christmas craft again e.g. candy cane reindeers to raise money to have a Secret Santa across the school.
